The Futures Rob Machado Bamboo Tri Fin Set is the signature set of surfing stylist Rob Machado. Based on the BlackStix range, Rob’s fin has a ride number of 10 so it has the liveliest, most speed generating ranking in the range. In terms of construction it blends the eco and flex benefits of bamboo with high tech carbon. The V2 foil of the side fins gives you a distinctive feel and performance. As you pump and go into turns the fin generates speed and loads up then releases as you change direction. There’s a torsional component and this gives you extra energy to make bigger moves and airs. The set includes a small rear fin making it easier to bring the tail around or blow the tail out. Rob says “I just really liked the flex…I don’t know exactly what it does but it feels good. I am more of a feel kind of person, you know… sometimes it just feels good.”

The other benefit is that such lively flex allows you to surf deeper in the pocket. The fin fits into the curve of the wave rather than skipping out. Eco benefits include the use of fast growing renewable bamboo matieral. The fin also uses epoxy rather than traditional resin, epoxy releasing less VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). The fins feature the Futures Truss Base so they are light. They are designed to break under impact so the risk of injury or board damage is reduced.
