So they’re optimised for drive and control with speed. With a wide base, when you push on the fin it generates forward consistent drive. The more you push the more drive and projection you get. With a refined tip you get instant release for big changes of direction and airs. These surfboard fins have low rake. This means they’re more upright so you get great pivot, for top to bottom surfing. They also give you hold on the wave face.
