Description
FCS II Thomas Longboard Fin
The FCS II Thomas Longboard Fin gives you a fun performance feel, and the FCS tool-less install feature. Thomas is Thomas Bexon, a craftsman longboard shaper. Thomas’ fin has a shape that he says has ‘the best combination of every element in one fin’. So you get a great mix of drive, flex and hold.
The base is substantial so you get a lot of drive when you put your weight down over the fin. However the base refines quickly from front and rear. Reducing the angle at the front allows the fin to very quickly go into changes of direction. This gives you a dynamic responsive feeling. Being inset from the rear reduces area so you won’t bog, being quick between turn transitions.
The tip, while narrowed, still retains thickness so, according to Thomas, you don’t ‘get the doughy feeling’ of the fin mushing out and losing direction. This thickness creates recoil energy as the fin loads up and flexes, boosting in and out of turns.
The fin is tall and has rake. So you get good hold in sucky sections while also projection on the wave face without having to work too hard for it. In this way you can focus on your moves while the fin helps you keep cruising down the line.
Tool-Less Install
The fin features the FCS tool-less install. It just pops in so you can easily adjust position while you’re out in the surf without even a fin key. This is a great feature so you can get fin placement perfect for different conditions and boards. If you’ve got a bit of a quiver you’ll know how much difference slight variations in fin position can make.
This FCS 2 Longboard fin is designed to fit in an adjustable rear fin box as found on traditional longboards. So it won’t work in a normal FCS box. This is a great fin to use in your 2 + 1 setup. The construction gives you a great fiberglass feel close to that of traditional fins. Check our full range of Longboard Fins at Manly Surfboards>Surfboard Fins
