FCS II Harley Longboard Tri Fin Set

The FCS II Harley Longboard Tri Fin Set is a signaure fins of World Longboard Champion Harley Ingleby. He calls this his Athlete Fin as it’s a high energy design. The fin features an XL template, so you get more area. This equates to maximum drive and power direction on the wave. In small waves this extra area can help you harness the most of the wave power on hand. For example when you drive you’ll go faster and farther. In bigger waves the larger size gives you hold and direction, so you don’t wash out in turns and can hold your line. If you’re a powerful surfer you need to try and then maintain a set of these fins in your fin quiver.

The rear fin has an FCS longboard fitting so is designed to fit in a longboard rear fin box. The great thing about this set is that it features FCS II latest tech. The rear fin will fin in pretty much any standard longboard rear fin box, without the need of a screw or screwdriver tool. Utilising the FCS II setup the fin can be installed and adjusted without even a fin key. This is great for being able adjust the fin out in the water, to try forward and rear fin positions. This is something you always want to do but never do due to the hassle.

Setup & Construction

The set comes with three fins. Two standard FCS II thruster side fins and an FCS II longboard rear fin. Note while the rear fin can be used in just about any longboard rear fin box, the side fins will only work in FCS II fin boxes. The construction of the fins features Performance Core. This is a multi-layered resin transfer moulding process. This process matches the fin flex pattern to the foil of the fin. So at the base there’s a thicker foil giving you more drive. As you go up the fin to the tip the foil thins so you get more flex. The PC construction ensures your flex is progressive from the base through to the tip. This helps you maintain drive and hold through a turn and is not erratic or jerky. This fin material is light, and can be used in a variety of different conditions. As mentioned above you get maximum performance in small and larger waves.

Benefits include you only need the fins themselves. There’s no plate or screw needed for the rear fin, nor screws needed for the side fins. The fin install and setup takes a few seconds, with no tools and no messing around. You can adjust your fin position in the box mid surf, a huge bonus to workout your optimum performance from a board. The rear fin is designed to be used in most existing Longboard boxes.
